Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
